The Yukhari Govhar Agha Mosque in Shusha was designed by Karbalayi Safikhan Karabakhi. Work began in 1768 or 1769, and Govhar Agha, daughter of Ibrahim Khalil Khan, ordered its completion in 1883 to 1885. The infobox lists Ibrahim Khalil Khan as founder, 1885 as the date and the style as Islamic.
The main building is stone, and the two cylindrical minarets are brick with horizontal belts and patterned brickwork. The prayer hall is a three-nave square split by six stone columns, with women's balconies. A northern veranda measures 87 by 71 feet (26.5 by 21.5 m).
It was a museum in the Soviet period and reopened as a mosque in 1988. It stopped functioning after the 1992 capture of Shusha. Restoration opened it to tourists on October 14, 2019, and the article notes disagreement over that restoration.
