Wrexham Cathedral, also called St Mary's Cathedral, is the Roman Catholic cathedral of the Diocese of Wrexham in Wales. Edward Welby Pugin designed it in the Gothic Revival style, adopting the Decorated Gothic of the fourteenth century. It was built in 1857 as a parish church to replace a chapel on King Street, which had become too small for the growing congregation. A local industrialist provided the finance.
A cloister and a side chapel were added in the middle of the twentieth century. The church became a pro-cathedral in 1898, when the Diocese of Menevia was established, and it was consecrated on November 7, 1907. The diocese of Wrexham was founded in 1987.
It is a Grade II listed building. A plaque inside commemorates Flight Lieutenant David Lord, a Victoria Cross recipient who was killed in 1944 at the Battle of Arnhem.
