The Wiener Riesenrad in Vienna was designed by Harry Hitchins and Hubert Cecil Booth, and Lt. Walter Basset Bassett constructed it. The article names no client and says it was built to celebrate Emperor Franz Josef I's Golden Jubilee. It dates the construction to 1897.

The article names no style. Steel cables form the tensioned spokes, and a circumferential cable drives the wheel. The wheel is 212 feet (64.75 m) tall. It originally had 30 gondolas, and only 15 were replaced after World War II damage.

A 1916 demolition permit went unused for lack of funds. It was the world's tallest extant Ferris wheel from 1920 to 1985. The succession box names Technocosmos as its successor, but the text names Technostar. It is a major tourist attraction at the Prater entrance in Leopoldstadt. The article gives no hours.
