Visconti Castle in Pavia was built by Galeazzo II Visconti, Lord of Milan, as a residential palace. The architect is unknown, and the text only tentatively suggests Bernardo da Venezia, who was active in Pavia only after 1389. Work began in 1360 and finished in about five years. The text calls it a medieval castle and names no style.
The plan is square with 466-foot (142 m) sides and four corner towers 141 feet (43 m) high. The infobox gives brick walls and stone columns. A courtyard has a ground-floor portico and a first-floor loggia with four-light windows.
Ludovico il Moro married Beatrice d'Este in the ducal chapel in 1491. In 1527 French artillery destroyed the northeastern side and two towers. Military use ended in 1920, and the castle now houses the Pavia Civic Museums. The infobox says it is open to the public, and the article gives no hours.
