The Velodrom in Prenzlauer Berg was designed by Dominique Perrault, who won an international competition in 1992. Unternehmensgruppe Gegenbauer owns it and Velomax operates it. Ove Arup and Partners was the structural engineer. It was built from 1992 to 1997 and opened in 1997, at a cost of 138 million euros. The article names no style.

The roof is 142 meters in diameter, a steel structure that the article calls Europe's largest. The cladding is wire gauze. Capacity is 12,000 for concerts and 6,887 for tennis.

It is a multi-use velodrome for cycling, athletics, tennis, equestrian events and concerts, part of a complex with a swimming pool and a multi-sport hall.
