Vaishno Devi is a cave temple in the Trikuta Hills near Katra. The article names no architect or founder. Popular belief says the Pandavas built the first temples at Kol Khandoli and Bhawan. Maharaja Gulab Singh established the Dharmarth Trust by 1846, and the temple was part of it. The infobox lists completion as 0028 Vikram Samvat. The Shrine Board took over in 1986.

The hills are mainly limestone, and the shrine centers on natural rock pindis. The original cave is about 98 feet (30 m) long, and artificial tunnels were built beside it for darshan. The article gives the elevation as 5,200 feet (1,585 m) in the body and 1,500 m in the lead. A 1976 expansion allowed up to 5,000 visitors per day.

It reports 9.52 million pilgrims in 2023. Visitors can use battery vehicles, helipads and a cable car, open since 2018.
