The Utzon Center stands on the Limfjord waterfront in Aalborg. Jørn Utzon designed it, and his son Kim Utzon provided the final construction drawings. It was completed in 2008, the year Utzon died. The idea came from Aalborg University's School of Architecture and Design, which set up the Utzon Research Center in 2003. The article gives no construction start, opening date or materials.
Plans shown in August 2005 called for 2,700 square meters of exhibition and research space. The roofs are sculptural and dramatically curved above the auditorium, boathall and library. Sheltered courtyards recall Utzon's time in the Middle East and Mediterranean. The boathall honors Aage Utzon, his father, a boatbuilder.
The article calls it a knowledge center, not a museum. It includes lecture theatres, workshops, a library, an archive of Utzon's drawings and a restaurant. The article gives no hours or admission.
