The headquarters of the United States Institute of Peace stands at 2301 Constitution Avenue NW in Foggy Bottom, Washington. Moshe Safdie designed it, and Clark Construction Group built it. Congress approved the site in 1996. Construction ran from 2008 to 2011, and it was dedicated in October 2011 at a cost of $186 million. The article names the style as Modernism.
The building has five floors and 154,000 square feet (14,300 m²). It uses acid-etched precast concrete and a glass curtain wall, and its roof is 1,482 white glass panels on steel frames. The Great Hall is an 11,800-square-foot atrium with an 80-foot glass wall facing the National Mall. It has a LEED Gold certification.
The building was transferred to the General Services Administration in March 2025, and ownership is pending in appeals court. A federal judge ruled the takeover unconstitutional. The article gives no hours.
