Trellick Tower in Kensal Town was designed by Ernő Goldfinger, his last major project, for the Greater London Council. The history section says the London County Council encouraged it, but the council had been replaced by construction. Construction began in 1968, and the tower opened on June 28, 1972.

It is Brutalist, with a concrete facade, cedarwood balcony finishes and balconies on all flats. It has 31 floors and 217 dwellings, and it stands 322 feet (98 m) to the roof, or 394 feet (120 m) with the communications mast. A separate lift and service tower rises two floors above the main block and links to it every third story.

Crime and anti-social behavior in the late 1970s earned it the nickname The Tower of Terror. Residents formed an association in 1984, hired a concierge in 1987 and chose self-management in 1994. It became Grade II* listed in 1998. A top-floor fire in 2017 caused limited damage.
