The Shard in Southwark was designed by Renzo Piano's workshop with Adamson Associates Architects. Sellar Property Group developed it for LBQ Ltd, and the State of Qatar owns 95 percent. Construction began on March 16, 2009. The infobox lists completion as July 5, 2012, while the text calls that the inauguration and gives practical completion as November 2012.

The glass-clad, pyramid-shaped tower is 1,016 feet (309.6 m) tall with 95 floors, 72 of them habitable, and 36 lifts. It uses about 11,000 glass panes, post-tensioned concrete, composite floors and steel. The observation deck opened on February 1, 2013.

It replaced Southwark Towers of 1975 and mixes offices, a Shangri-La hotel on floors 34 to 52, restaurants and residences. The article gives the residences as floors 53 to 65 in one place and 10 apartments in another. The View from The Shard is privately operated, and the article gives no prices.
