The Kelpies are two giant horse-head sculptures by Andy Scott beside the M9 motorway between Falkirk and Grangemouth. Falkirk Council owns them. They stand on either side of a lock and basin at the eastern gateway to the Forth and Clyde Canal, within the Helix parkland and its Kelpies Hub.

Construction ran from June to October 2013, a topping-out ceremony was held on November 27, 2013, and the unveiling took place in April 2014. Each head is 30 meters (98 feet) high and weighs about 300 tonnes, built of structural steel clad in stainless steel.

Scott took inspiration from Clydesdale-type draught horses and moved away from mythological references toward a socio-historical monument. The article gives no commission date, cost, hours or fees. The Helix website is thehelix.co.uk.
