The two-storey building covers 2,200 square meters (23,700 square feet) and cost NZ$22.7 million. It holds a library, art and museum spaces, workshops, meeting rooms and a performance space with lighting and gantries. It also houses New Zealand's largest video wall.

It won a Designers Institute of New Zealand design award. In its first year, door counters logged 171,673 visits.
