Swadhinata Stambha, the Independence Monument, stands in Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka. The architects were Kashef Mahboob Chowdhury and Marina Tabassum. The government decided on it in 1996 and held a design competition in 1997. Construction began in 1999, and the glass tower was completed in 2013. The article names no style.

The site is where Sheikh Mujibur Rahman gave his speech on March 7, 1971, and where the Pakistani surrender was signed on December 16, 1971. The monument has a glass Tower of Light, an underground museum, terracotta murals and a 2,000-seat auditorium. An eternal flame burns beside the tower, and a water body reflects it. The article gives conflicting tower heights.

The project cost rose to 1.8161 billion BDT in 2009. The glass tower was shelved in 2002 and revived in 2009. The article gives no hours.
