The Suntory Museum of Art stands in Tokyo Midtown and was designed by Kengo Kuma, who also supervised the 2020 renewal. Suntory runs it, and Suntory president Keizo Saji opened the first museum in 1961. It moved to Akasaka in 1975 and to the former Defense Agency site in Tokyo Midtown on March 30, 2007. The article gives no construction dates, style, materials or dimensions.
It closed in November 2019 for renovation and reopened in July 2020. The renewal added an earthquake-resistant ceiling, LED lighting and a renewed entrance, shops and cafes.
It opened with no permanent collection and shows special exhibitions of Japanese art from a contemporary view. It belongs to the Roppongi Art Triangle with the Mori Art Museum and the National Art Center, Tokyo.
