Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof was designed by Paul Bonatz and Friedrich Eugen Scholer, who won a 1910 competition run by the Royal Württemberg State Railways. It was built from 1914 to 1928, and the first stage entered service in 1922. The infobox gives October 23, 1922 as the opening and the text October 22. The article links the design to the Stuttgart School.

The facade is Muschelkalk stone over brick, concrete and steel, and the terminal hall has exposed-concrete pillars. The station tower is 184 feet (56 m) tall. Sixteen above-ground platforms run about 1,070 to 1,540 feet (326 to 470 m).

It was heavily damaged in World War II and has been heritage listed since 1987. Stuttgart 21 is converting it into an underground through station, with construction scheduled to end in 2027. The side wings were demolished in 2010 to 2012. The article gives no hours.
