Stockholm City Hall was designed by Ragnar Östberg for the City of Stockholm and built from 1911 to 1923. The council decided in 1907 to build on the former Eldkvarn site after a design competition. It was inaugurated on June 23, 1923, though the text notes that the anniversary it was tied to fell on July 4.
The infobox says National Romantic with Romanesque revival, while the text says National Romantic with Venetian Gothic-inspired elements. It uses about eight million dark red bricks, and the Golden Hall mosaics use more than 18 million tiles. The tower is 348 feet (106 m) high, with 365 steps.
The Blue Hall, whose walls have no blue decoration, holds an organ of 10,270 pipes, the largest in Scandinavia. The building houses offices and ceremonial halls, hosts the Nobel Prize banquet and is a major tourist attraction.
