The Statue of Equality honors Ramanuja, the eleventh-century philosopher, on the grounds of the Chinna Jeeyar Trust at Muchintal, on the outskirts of Hyderabad. The trust proposed it in 2014 to mark his thousandth birth anniversary. DNV Prasad Sthapathi served as chief architect. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated it on February 5, 2022.
The seated statue is 217 feet (66 meters) tall and rests on a three-story base, the Bhadravedi, 52 feet (16 meters) tall. It is made of about 700 tonnes of panchaloha, a five-metal alloy, over a concrete core. The Aerosun Corporation of Nanjing built it, and it was shipped from China in 1,600 pieces.
Fourteen models were designed following the Agama and Shilpa Shastras. The lotus under the statue is carried by 36 elephants, and 108 model temples surround it. Inside is a smaller golden statue made with 120 kilograms of gold. The golden statue was inaugurated on February 13, 2022.
