Stalin's Near Dacha in Kuntsevo, Moscow, was designed by Miron Merzhanov for Joseph Stalin, who used it as his personal residence. It was built in 1933 and 1934 in a densely wooded birch forest. The text names no style, materials or dimensions. It was built with a bomb shelter, and a second floor was added in 1943.
The ground floor has a study, dining room, bedrooms and a large veranda, and the second floor has an elevator. The grounds have a pond, fruit trees, a rose garden and a gorodki sports ground. Security included a double-perimeter fence, camouflaged 30 mm antiaircraft guns and about 300 NKVD troops.
Stalin lived here during World War II, hosted Winston Churchill in August 1942 and Mao Zedong in December 1949, and died here on March 5, 1953. It is preserved with Stalin's belongings, but the grounds are closed to the public. The article gives no hours.
