St. Nicholas Church in Stralsund is a brick Gothic church of the Baltic region, part of the Stralsund historic center listed by UNESCO in 2002. Construction began in 1234 as a hall church with a tower. After 1270 it was rebuilt as a basilica modeled on St. Mary's Church in Lübeck, with a choir that has an ambulatory and five chapels. The western tower was begun around 1300, and the nave between the towers was completed around 1350.

It was built for the city council, which used it as the council church for meetings, receiving ambassadors, announcing laws and keeping the city archives. It originally had 56 altars. The Schlüter altar was completed in 1708, and the astronomical clock dates from 1394.

A fire destroyed the wooden tower spires in 1662, and American bombing damaged the roof and windows in 1944. It is an active Lutheran parish church.
