St. Michael's Golden-Domed Monastery in Kyiv stands on a hill above the Dnipro, northeast of St Sophia Cathedral. Sviatopolk II of Kyiv founded it, and the cathedral was built from 1108 to 1113. The article names no original architect. The infobox lists Ivan Hryhorovych-Barskyi for the reconstruction.
The article gives Byzantine architecture for the interior and Ukrainian Baroque for the exterior. The walls and vaults are brick on concrete foundations, with a gilded dome. The cathedral covers 802 square feet (74.5 m²) and is 128 feet (39 m) high. The bell tower is 158 feet (48.28 m) high.
Mongol invaders looted it in 1240, and it became the seat of the Metropolis of Kyiv in 1620. Soviet authorities closed it in 1922 and dynamited the cathedral on August 14, 1937. Reconstruction began on May 24, 1997, and the cathedral reopened on May 30, 1999. Since December 2018 it has headquartered the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.
