St Mary's Cathedral in Newcastle upon Tyne was designed by Augustus Welby Northmore Pugin and built from 1842 to 1844. The article names no client, but it says local poor immigrant communities paid for much of it through halfpenny subscriptions. It opened in August 1844, and the infobox gives completion on August 21, 1844. The style is Gothic Revival.
William Wailes made the stained glass of the Great East Window and two chapels in 1843, to Pugin's designs. Dunn & Hansom added the tower and steeple in 1872, funded by a bequest. The text names no materials or dimensions, but calls it the sixth tallest structure in the city. It is Grade I listed.
The church became a cathedral in 1850. A Kenneth Tickell organ with 46 stops was finished in 2013, after a two-phase renovation from 2010 to 2013. The Monument Garden holds a monument to Cardinal Basil Hume. The article gives no hours.
