St. George's Church at Oplenac in Topola is the royal mausoleum of the Karađorđević house, founded by King Peter I of Serbia. The 1907 tender was won by Nikola Nestorović, but the king was dissatisfied, and a second tender in 1909 gave first prize to Kosta J. Jovanović, whose plan was built. The church was consecrated on September 23, 1912.
The five-domed church has white marble facades from Venčac mountain and an interior 98 feet (30 m) long. The infobox lists the Morava School style, while the text describes a Serbian-Byzantine aim. Interior mosaics cover 37,700 square feet (3,500 m²), with about 40 million glass pieces.
Austro-Hungarian occupation forces looted the church in the winter of 1915. King Alexander I changed the plan during completion after Peter I died in 1921, and it was reconsecrated in September 1930. Services stopped in 1947, and it opened to visitors as a cultural monument.
