The Sinan Pasha Mosque in Beşiktaş was designed by Mimar Sinan, the imperial architect. The admiral Sinan Pasha, younger brother of the grand vizier Rüstem Pasha, endowed it. He died in 1554, and work began after his death. The infobox gives completion as 1555 or 1556, and the two foundation inscriptions differ slightly on the date.
The article lists the style as Ottoman. The building has alternating layers of ashlar and brick. Its prayer hall has a dome 41 feet (12.6 m) across on six arches, with two free-standing hexagonal piers, a plan the article compares with the Üç Şerefeli Mosque in Edirne. A madrasa with a shed roof encloses the forecourt on three sides.
The original painted decoration has not survived. In 1749, the inner portico on the north side was added to the prayer hall, and the bathhouse was demolished in 1957. The türbe of Barbaros Hayrettin Pasha stands across the street.
