The Shenzhen Bay Sports Center, nicknamed Spring Cocoon, stands in Nanshan District. AXS Satow and the Beijing Urban Engineering Design and Research Institute designed it. The Shenzhen Municipal People's Government owns it. A design competition ran in early 2008, foundations were laid in February 2009, and it opened in April 2011. The article gives a cost of $2.3 billion and names no style.

It sits on reclaimed land. A perforated external steel skin joins the structure. The complex has three arenas, a swimming pool, an indoor arena and a stadium for 20,000, with a gymnasium for 13,000. A 30-story office tower is part of it.

It hosted the opening ceremony of the 2011 Summer Universiade. The RoboMaster competition has been held here each year since 2015. Houhai station is within walking distance.
