The Shanghai Oriental Art Center in Pudong was designed by Paul Andreu with the Huadong Architectural Design and Research Institute. The Shanghai and Pudong governments built it together, and the article names no owner or style. Construction began on March 26, 2002, it was completed on December 31, 2004, and it officially opened on July 1, 2005.

From above it resembles a butterfly orchid, formed by five hemispherical halls. The structure has a reinforced concrete frame and a steel roof girder, with a glass facade. The Concert Hall seats 1,953, the Opera Hall 1,015 and the Performance Hall 333.

The Concert Hall has a computer-controlled elevating stage and an 88-stop Rieger organ from Austria. Construction cost 1.1 billion yuan. The article mentions free admission days each month but gives no ticket prices or hours.
