The Shanghai International Circuit in Shanghai's Jiading District was designed by Hermann Tilke. Shanghai Jiushi Group holds 92 percent of the owner and Shanghai International Automobile City 8 percent. Construction began in April 2003, on former swampland and rice paddies that needed extensive groundwork, and it opened on June 6, 2004. The cost was 2.6 billion yuan. The article names no style or materials.

The Grand Prix circuit is 3.387 miles (5.451 km) with 16 turns, and its layout is said to be inspired by the Chinese character shang. The team paddock pavilions resemble Shanghai's Yu Garden. Wing-like platforms offer viewing, and there is a straight of about 1.2 km between turns 13 and 14.

Total capacity is 200,000, with 30,000 in the main grandstand. The site covers about 5.3 square kilometers and includes a go-kart track. The article gives no hours or ticket details.
