The new Seoul City Hall in Taepyeongno houses the Seoul Metropolitan Government. Yoo Kerl of iArc won the competition, and the commission was awarded on February 18, 2008. Construction took four years and five months. The building opened to the public on August 27, 2012. The article names no style.

Yoo drew on traditional architecture, using low horizontal elements and the eaves of traditional Korean houses. A double-skin facade covers it, and over 25% of its energy comes from solar and geothermal sources. An indoor Green Wall of 14 species of plants spans 1,516 square meters, which Guinness World Records named the largest vertical garden in 2013.

A glass elevator reaches an eighth-floor Sky Plaza Gallery. The former city hall of 1925, in the Imperial Crown Style, is now the Seoul Metropolitan Library.
