The Selfridges store on Park Street in Birmingham was designed by Jan Kaplický and Amanda Levete of Future Systems, with Ove Arup & Partners as engineers. Selfridges & Co. commissioned it under chief executive Vittorio Radice. Laing O'Rourke built it from 1999 to September 2003 at a cost of £60 million. The article calls the style Blobitecture.
The store has six floors and 160,000 square feet (14,864 m²). A steel frame carries a sprayed concrete facade, covered with 15,000 anodized aluminum discs on a blue background. The curved shape was meant to make the store a landmark for the brand.
It is the third Selfridges outside London and is linked to the Bullring Shopping Centre. The article gives no hours or interior details.
