The Selamat Datang Monument, or Welcome Monument, stands at the center of the Bundaran Hotel Indonesia roundabout on Jalan M.H. Thamrin in Central Jakarta. Sukarno ordered it as part of the beautification projects for the Asian Games IV. Construction began on August 17, 1961, and the text says it was completed in 1962.
Henk Ngantung, then vice governor of Jakarta, sketched the design, and the infobox also lists Trubus Sudarsono as an architect. Edhi Sunarso was the sculptor. The article says the design was heavily influenced by socialist realism and resembles the work of the Soviet sculptor Vera Mukhina.
Two bronze statues, a man and a woman, wave in welcome, and the woman holds a bouquet. The text gives the overall height as about 98 feet (30 meters), while the infobox says 33 feet (10 meters), and the article does not reconcile them. A round pond with fountains surrounds the monument.
