The Scottish Parliament Building in Edinburgh was designed by Enric Miralles and Benedetta Tagliabue of EMBT, with RMJM Scotland, and Ove Arup & Partners as structural engineer. The Scottish Parliamentary Corporate Body took control from the Scottish Office on June 1, 1999. Bovis Lend Lease was contractor. Construction began in June 1999, members first debated there on September 7, 2004 and the formal opening was on October 9, 2004.

The infobox lists Post-modern. The materials include Scottish gneiss and granite, oak, sycamore, stainless steel, concrete and Caithness stone. The site is 1.6 hectares with 31,000 square meters of floor area, and the debating chamber spans over 98 feet (30 m) without columns. The final cost was 414.4 million pounds.

A roof beam in the chamber came loose in March 2006, and engineers blamed a faulty bolt. The article says it is open year-round, with tours, but gives no hours or fees.
