Schwarzenberg Palace is a Renaissance building at Hradčanské náměstí in Prague's Hradčany district. It is a cultural monument, and the National Gallery Prague uses it as a gallery. Johann IV Popel of Lobkowicz commissioned Agostino Galli to design it. Work ran from 1545 to 1567 on a site that had held medieval buildings.
The palace passed through several noble houses, and through marriage in the early 18th century it came to the House of Schwarzenberg. The sgraffito decorations on the facade cover about 7,000 square meters. Most are repeating black-and-white cuboid blocks, and the sgraffito was expanded between 1871 and 1893.
In 1908 the palace was leased to the National Technical Museum, which opened it to the public in 1910. Renovations took place from 2000 to 2007, and the National Gallery Prague acquired it in 2002.
