San Giuliano dei Fiamminghi stands at Via del Sudario 40 in Rome and is dedicated to Saint Julian the Hospitaller. It belonged to a hospice for Flemish pilgrims and its Brotherhood of St Julian. Tradition links the early foundation to the eighth century, and Robert II, Count of Flanders, visited the hospice in 1096. The groundbreaking for the new church is dated 1675. Antonio Maria Borioni was the architect, assisted by his brother Asdrubal, and the renovation took place in 1681 and 1682. The style is Baroque.
The plan is an octagonal oval, inspired by Bernini's Sant'Andrea al Quirinale. Nicholas Haringhe, a pharmacist from Ypres, commissioned the main altar painting from Theodor Helmbreker in 1695. William Kent painted the vault medallion in 1717.
It became the Belgian national church in 1830 and a titular church in 1994.
