San Giacomo in Augusta stands on Via del Corso in the Campo Marzio district of Rome. Cardinal Giovanni Colonna founded a church and hospital on the site in 1339, and the hospital treated people with syphilis. Cardinal Antonio Maria Salviati commissioned the reconstruction. Francesco Capriani began construction in 1592, and Carlo Maderno completed it between 1604 and 1609. The style is Baroque.

The interior is oval, with a cross-shaped arrangement of axes and chapels. Pierre Le Gros the Younger decorated the second right chapel from 1711 to 1714, with a marble relief and paintings by Giuseppe Passeri. The first right chapel has a Resurrection by Cristoforo Roncalli, and the central left chapel has a statue of San Giacomo by Ippolito Buzzi.

Pope Francis made it a titular church on February 22, 2014.
