San Francesco di Paola is a Neoclassical church on Piazza del Plebiscito in Naples. King Joachim Murat planned the square and large building as a tribute to Napoleon, his brother-in-law. The Swiss architect Pietro Bianchi designed the main building, and the Neapolitan architect Leopoldo Laperuta designed the portico. The article says the church resembles the Pantheon in Rome.
Construction began in 1816 and ended in 1846. After the Bourbons returned, Ferdinand I continued the work and converted the building into a church. It is dedicated to Saint Francis of Paola, who stayed in a monastery on the site in the 16th century.
The portico has six columns and two Ionic pillars, and the interior is circular with two side chapels. The infobox gives a maximum height of 54 m, and the text gives a dome height of 174 feet (53 m).
