The Salesforce Transit Center at 425 Mission Street was designed by César Pelli of Pelli Clarke Pelli, selected on September 20, 2007, with Adamson Associates as executive architect. The Transbay Joint Powers Authority owns it. Phase 1 broke ground in August 2010 and cost 2.4 billion dollars. It opened on August 12, 2018, closed on September 25, 2018 for beam repairs, and fully reopened on August 11, 2019.

The building is about 1,430 feet long and 165 feet wide, with four levels. A 5.4-acre rooftop park has an amphitheater, a restaurant and water features. A free aerial tram carries 20 passengers from Mission and Fremont Streets to the park.

A cable-stayed bridge ramp links to the Bay Bridge.
