The Şakirin Mosque in Istanbul was designed by Hüsrev Tayla. The infobox also lists Zeynep Fadıllıoğlu as an architect, while the text names her interior designer. She is reported to be the first female interior designer of a mosque in Turkey. The Semiha Şakir Foundation built it in memory of İbrahim and Semiha Şakir, and it opened on May 7, 2009, after four years of construction. The infobox says Modern, and the text says the decorative motifs derive from Seljuk art.
The single dome is aluminum composite, the minbar is acrylic and the chandelier is made of water-drop-shaped glass globes. Semih İrteş made the dome calligraphy, Orhan Koçan the prayer hall windows and William Pye the courtyard fountain. The site covers 110,000 square feet (10,000 m²), the two minarets are 115 feet (35 m) tall, and capacity is 500.
It is built over a parking garage and includes an exhibition area.
