The Ronald Reagan Building at 1300 Pennsylvania Avenue NW was designed by James Ingo Freed of Pei Cobb Freed & Partners with Ellerbe Becket. The General Services Administration owns it. Construction began in mid-1989, the project was cancelled on January 25, 1992 and reversed on December 2, 1993, and it opened on May 5, 1998. The cost was about 818 million dollars. The article names no style.

It covers 11 acres and 3.1 million square feet, making it the second-largest federal building after the Pentagon. It has two large ballrooms, an atrium, a tetrahedral skylight and the four-acre Woodrow Wilson Plaza.

It also holds a Metro station, the city's largest parking garage and a segment of the Berlin Wall.
