The Rio–Antirrio Bridge crosses the Rion Strait and links Rio on the Peloponnese with Antirrio on the Greek mainland. Berdj Mikaelian was the lead architect. The Government of Greece owns the bridge, and a subsidiary of GEFYRA operates it under a concession. Site preparation and dredging began in July 1998, and the bridge opened on August 12, 2004.

The main span is 1,837 feet (560 meters). The article gives the total length as either 7,808 feet (2,380 meters) or 9,449 feet (2,880 meters), so its sources conflict. It is a cable-stayed bridge with a fully suspended deck, and its foundations use 200 hollow steel pipes driven into the seabed.

The design includes dampers, aerodynamic fairings and Scruton strakes, plus a monitoring system with more than 100 sensors. The article also gives a second date for the inauguration, August 7, in the body text.
