The Red Pyramid at Dahshur was built for Pharaoh Sneferu of the Fourth Dynasty, and the article names no architect. It dates to about 2575 to 2563 BCE, though estimates of the building time conflict, with Stadelmann suggesting about 17 years and Krauss 10 to 11 years. It is described as Egypt's first successful true, smooth-sided pyramid.
The pyramid is 344 feet (105 m) high on a base of about 722 feet (220 m), with a slope of 43 degrees 22 minutes. A limestone core was clad in white Tura limestone, most of which medieval builders in Cairo removed. A records box gives a height of 104 meters, which conflicts.
Its corbelled chambers rise about 39 and 49 feet (12 and 15 m). Visitors climb steps to a high north-side entrance, and a ventilation system pipes air down the shaft. It came after the Meidum pyramid collapsed and after the Bent Pyramid's angle was changed from 54 to 43 degrees.
