Ravenna Cathedral was built in the early fifth century by Bishop Ursus of Ravenna, who gave the original basilica its name, the Basilica Ursiana. The article names no architect, materials or dimensions, and gives no completion date. It says the cathedral was rebuilt in the Baroque style in the 18th century, without dates for that work.

It holds the sarcophagi of the bishops Maximianus, Exuperantius and Barbatianus. It once housed the Throne of Maximian, which the article no longer places there. It says the belltower has four bells in the key of D minor, a claim tagged citation needed.

The basilica was sacked during the Battle of Ravenna in April 1512. Pope John XXIII granted it minor basilica status on October 7, 1960. It is a Roman Catholic cathedral dedicated to the Resurrection of Jesus Christ and the seat of the archbishops of Ravenna-Cervia. The article gives no hours.
