The Ramanathaswamy Temple on Rameswaram island is a Shiva temple that the infobox gives as Tamil architecture. The article names no architect. It says the temple began as a thatched shed, and the Pandya dynasty expanded it in the 12th century. It credits the Setupatis of Ramanathapuram with much of its establishment, and says the temple in its current form is believed to date to the 17th century. Muthuramalinga Setupati built the third corridor in the late 18th century.
The compound wall measures about 865 by 657 feet (264 by 200 m). The main rajagopuram is 53 meters (174 feet) tall. The article gives the total corridor length as 3,850 feet, but its listed segments add up to about 3,232 feet. The sanctum has two lingams, and 22 theerthams are said to represent Rama's arrows.
The article says Malik Kafur's raids in the early 14th century destroyed temples including Rameswaram.
