Pura Luhur Batukaru is a Hindu temple in Wongaya Gede, Penebel district, Tabanan Regency, Bali, Indonesia, on the southern slope of Mount Batukaru, Bali's second-highest volcano. It was built in the 11th century in the Balinese architectural style. It was originally dedicated to the ancestors of Tabanan's rajas.
The temple was destroyed in 1604 and rebuilt in 1959. Its main shrine is a seven-tiered meru dedicated to Mahadewa, the god of Mount Batukaru.
It is one of the six sanctuaries of the world, or Sad Kahyangan Jagad, among Bali's holiest sites. It is also one of nine directional temples meant to protect Bali from evil spirits, and it represents the west. It is the first stop on the route to the summit, and an annual pilgrimage to the peak can draw thousands of worshipers. Much of the grounds are closed to visitors during ceremonies.
