Pulkovo Airport serves Saint Petersburg from a site about 23 kilometers (14 miles) south of the city center. Grimshaw Architects designed the interior of the new Terminal 1, reflecting the style of Saint Petersburg, and was announced as winner of the construction contract in 2007. The infobox lists the Saint Petersburg City Administration as owner, and Northern Capital Gateway operates the airport under a 30-year lease won in 2010. The article names no materials or formal style.
Construction began in November 2010. The terminal opened on December 3, 2013, and all operations moved there on February 14, 2014. It covers 147,000 square meters, with a 400,000-square-meter apron in front.
It has 88 check-in counters, 110 passport booths, seven baggage carousels, 17 gates, business lounges, restaurants and pharmacies. Four sculptures from Dmitry Shorin's I Believe in Angels project decorate the departure hall.
