Prora on the island of Rügen was designed by Clemens Klotz, who won the design competition. Erich zu Putlitz's festival hall and pool plans were included at Hitler's insistence but never built. The Strength Through Joy program of the German Labour Front was the client. The infobox and text agree on 1936 to 1939, when the start of World War II halted work.

The infobox labels the style Nazi, with no further description, and the article names no materials. It was planned at 2.8 miles (4.5 km) along the beach with eight identical blocks, and 1.9 miles (3.0 km) survives.

It was never used as a resort. The Soviet Army, East German military and Bundeswehr used it. The infobox lists Metropole Marketing as owner, but the blocks were sold individually from 2004. A documentation center has operated since 2000, and a youth hostel opened in 2011. The article gives no hours.
