The Prinzregententheater is a concert hall and opera house on Prinzregentenplatz in Munich, Bavaria. Ernst von Possart initiated the project, and Max Littmann designed the building. It is named after Luitpold, Prince Regent of Bavaria. It opened on August 21, 1901, with Wagner's Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg.

Like the Bayreuth Festspielhaus, its auditorium follows Wagner's specifications, except that an amphitheater replaces the loges. After the Nationaltheater was destroyed in World War II, the Bavarian State Opera used the theater from 1944 to 1963.

Damage from the war was not fully repaired until 1958. It was renovated in 1988 and seats 1,122. It now hosts the Bavarian Staatsschauspiel and the Bavarian Theatre Academy. Its Akademietheater seats 300.
