The Prada Epicenter at 575 Broadway in SoHo, New York, was designed by OMA as a retail laboratory. It was commissioned in 2000 and completed in 2001. Rem Koolhaas and Ole Scheeren led the design, and ARO of New York was executive architect. The space once belonged to the Guggenheim Museum's Broadway branch.
It occupies the ground floor and basement, about 2,190 square meters (23,600 square feet). The Wave, a curving surface, slopes from the street level down to the basement. One side steps for displays and seating, and the other forms an event stage.
Metal cages hang from the ceiling to show clothes and accessories. A circular glass elevator links the floors and displays handbags. Dressing room doors made of liquid crystal glass switch between clear and opaque. Materials include unfinished gypsum board, plywood and translucent polycarbonate over the original brick.
