The Journalist Phelippe Daou Bridge, also called the Rio Negro Bridge, crosses the Rio Negro near its confluence with the Amazon. It links Manaus and Iranduba in Amazonas, Brazil. Construction started on December 3, 2007, and the bridge opened on October 24, 2011. The article does not name a designer or a client.
The crossing is 11,795 feet (3,595 meters) long, with a cable-stayed section of 1,312 feet (400 meters). The two longest spans are each 656 feet (200 meters). The height is 607 feet (185 meters), the clearance above the river is 180 feet (55 meters), and the road has four lanes.
It is the fourth-longest bridge in Brazil and the only major bridge across the Amazon or any of its tributaries. It does not connect to the south side of the Amazon, so people often call it a bridge to nowhere. A 2018 study found that its construction induced deforestation.
