The Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill, New York was designed by Herzog & de Meuron, chosen after a review of more than 65 candidates. The museum bought the site in 2005 and opened the building on November 10, 2012. The earlier 1897 building on Jobs Lane was by Grosvenor Atterbury. The article gives no construction start and names no style, describing a gigantic barn oriented to catch Hamptons light.
The poured concrete building is 615 feet (187 m) long and 95 feet wide, on a 14-acre site. It has a single floor, with galleries in two parallel bars along a central hall. Daylight changes through the day and seasons.
The original $80 million plan for 30 buildings was cut to $26.2 million during the 2008 financial crisis. The article gives no hours or admission.
