Paris Las Vegas was designed by Joel Bergman and developed by Bally Entertainment, which announced it in 1995. Hilton acquired Bally in late 1996. Construction began on April 18, 1997, and the resort opened on September 1, 1999 at a cost of $785 million. The article calls the style a stylized Paris inspired by 1920s street scenes, and a contractor said it was not meant as a historical recreation.

The resort sits on 24 acres (9.7 ha) on South Las Vegas Boulevard. The half-scale Eiffel Tower replica is welded steel with faux rivets, using 5,000 tons of steel. The article gives its height as 540 feet in the lead and 164.6 meters in the infobox, and 160 meters in the body. The observation deck is at 460 feet (140 m).

The original tower has 34 stories and 2,916 rooms, and the resort had 3,672 rooms in 2024.
