The Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona was designed by Lluís Domènech i Montaner for the Orfeó Català choral society, financed mainly by the society with contributions from industrialists. It was built from 1905 to 1908 and inaugurated on February 9, 1908. The text describes Catalan modernisme, with ties to Art Nouveau.

The building uses exposed red brick and an iron and steel frame, with mosaics, stained glass and glazed ceramic. The main hall seats about 2,200, with glass walls on two sides and a stained-glass skylight by Antoni Rigalt. The text quotes Tim Benton calling the walls the first curtain wall structures.

Oscar Tusquets and Carles Díaz restored and extended it from 1982 to 1989, and the Petit Palau opened in 2004, 11 meters (36 feet) below a square. More than half a million people attend each year. UNESCO listed it in 1997 with Hospital de Sant Pau.
